Cerritos College football will face the Pasadena City College Lancers in its first conference match up of the season on Sept. 29 at Robinson Stadium.
The Falcons are coming off a bye week, and a loss the week before against the No. 1-ranked team in the nation — Mt. San Antonio College.
This weekend’s match-up brings a friendly rivalry between the head coaches of both teams.
“I’ve known (Fred Fimbres) since he was five-years-old,” Falcons head coach Frank Mazzotta said. “He is a part of the family. He should just lose and give the game to the old man.”
The Lancers are 0-4 this season, but Mazzotta is not taking Pasadena’s woes for granted.
“Any team can beat you at this level,” he said. “We’re better prepared and better coached. We just have to go out there and do what we are supposed to do.”
The Falcon players are feeling confident for the game.
“Each week, we get better,” quarterback Morgan Fennell, said. “We had a successful week of practicing. Nobody has any bad vibes or negative spirits.
“It’s always the little things that put us behind. We have to limit our mistakes.”
