Brief: Softball scores 13 runs in rout

Runs came early and often Thursday at Nancy Kelly Field for the Cerritos College softball team, as it defeated El Camino College-Compton Center, 13-2 in five innings.

Freshman third baseman Ariana Mejia turned in a three-hit performance, including a three-run home run, increasing her batting average to .432 on the season.

It was her third home run and 15th RBI of the campaign.

Altogether it was 13 runs on 17 hits for Cerritos College, who has now won three straight games in which it has outscored its opponents 30-5.

Up next on the schedule is Bakersfield College Friday at home. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
