Among the top stories for the week of Oct. 27 are women’s soccer winning in a tremendous blowout fashion against El Camino-Compton Center College and the football teams notching a point count that had not been achieved since 2009.
5. Water polo teams split Chaffey College results
Men’s water polo was effective in its conference away matchup against Chaffey College on Wednesday, Oct. 30, while the women’s water polo team suffered a 4-3 loss to Chaffey College the same day.
The men’s team improved its conference record to 4-1 and holds a 14-12 overall record. The women’s team’s conference record dropped to 5-3 and its overall record is now 13-15.
Both teams will participate in the South Coast Conference Tournament Thursday, Nov. 7.
4. Volleyball makes push for winning record with victory over Trade-Tech
The volleyball team made easy work of Los Angeles Trade-Tech College Wednesday, Oct. 30 in an away conference contest.
Although its conference record is now at 4-4, right at .500, the women’s team still finds itself with a 7-9 losing record.
The team returns home against East Los Angeles College on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.
3. Wrestling successful in its first home outing of the season
The wrestling team earned a 22-15 victory over Palomar College Wednesday, Oct. 30 in its first home contest of the season.
Earning a 13-0 early lead in the competition, the lead was slowly being cut into by the Palomar College participants, but Cerritos College held off the push and earned the win.
The team will travel to Reno, Nev. for the Lassen Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 2.
2. Football outputs 56 points in high tempo victory
Sophomore Cody Clements assisted on two touchdowns and had 241 passing yards in the football team’s 56-27 win over Ventura College last Saturday.
Sophomore Elijhaa Penny had four touchdowns as the football team had a combined 618 yards in the win, according to cerritosfalcons.com
The team hadn’t notched a total of 56 points or more since back in 2009.
1. Women’s soccer tremendous in 17-0 blowout victory
An undermanned ECC Center College team was taken advantage of by the women’s soccer team as it was blown out 17-0 Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Adding insult to injury, literally, the ECC Center College team suffered another injury throughout the game as it was bullied throughout the entire contest.
An away contest against El Camino College awaits the women’s soccer team Friday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m.
