The women’s soccer team was relentless in its game against Pasadena City College.

The Falcons won the game with a score of 6-0, for Friday, Oct. 9.

Forward Carolina Jaramillo, who had a hat trick said, “I feel glad because before I could only score one goal in past games, I think I’m getting more confident with my team.”

Jaramillo, who has only been on the team for three weeks, added that the team has to improve on finishing goal opportunities.

During the first half, forward Natalie De Leon, was injured and escorted off the field.

Head coach Ruben Gonzalez said about Pasadena, “[The team] was very gritty, they worked very hard, but I think at the end of the day we just wore them down,”

He added that even though the Falcons successfully followed up with its opportunities, he thinks the team could work on connecting more passes.

The Pasadena City College Lancers put up a brave offense, but ultimately could not get past goalkeeper Cyndie Trejo.

For the better part of the first half, the ball rarely made it into Falcon territory, continuously staying too close to the Lancers’ goal.

“We worked really hard, we came out with the mentality to play as a team, connect passes and score goals and it was just a good game,” forward Jamie Peters said.

She added the team had a hard time playing as a team for the first few games, but that as they played more it worked better as a unit.

By the second half, the Lancers got their second wind and pressed harder, but only had a few close calls when it came to scoring.

Forward Amber Whitmore, who scored two goals said, “[The Lancers] worked really hard and they never stopped pressuring us, and they played a fair game.”

She said about scoring, “I was just at the right place at the right time and I’m glad my teammates found me and I was able to help the team out.”

The Falcons next face the East Los Angeles Community College Huskies on Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. at home.

I have coffee for blood and I'm not entirely sure I'm human anymore. I sort of stumbled into journalism and Talon Marks but I'm glad I did because I've always lacked direction, even though I've always been told I'm "smart." I've never really felt smart, more like the world doesn't make sense and I'm just trying to make sense of it. I'm a huge gamer and geek and the very model of a scientist Salarian. One thing you'll hear me say usually after several cups of coffee is either "I am Krogan" or "it had to be me, someone else would have gotten it wrong." I hope the editors and the new staff learn from my past mistakes, as well the ones that came before. I wish everyone the best in whatever they may pursue. Let's kick some ass, write good news and show them Talon Marks is more than just the newspaper. We're a team and family. This is Goose signing off, go get'em.
