The Cerritos Falcons snapped their winless streak after prevailing over the Compton Tartars for the third time in the 2025 season.
During their penultimate regular season game the Falcons opened by scoring multiple runs and continued their domination to the end.
When the Falcons stepped up to the plate during the bottom of the first inning they opened by loading the bases with their first three players.
Briana Zarate was able to get to first while Savannah Gonzalez made it home, securing the first run of the game.
Vicky Najera followed with a single getting herself to first as Morgan Fontela and Marley Cortez scored the second and third runs of the game.
While Ayiana Cardenas made it to first base, Zarate was called out on her way to third base.
Sienna Contreras and Carissa Amaya were next on the plate, both grounded out ending the inning.
Compton failed to score in the second inning after Laila Davila, Lauren Kleib and Angela Banderas failed to advance to first.
Amarie Encarnacion and Gonzalez made it to second and third base when the Falcons returned to the plate during the bottom of the second inning.
Cortez hit to center field and was called out while Encarnacion scored the fourth run of the game.
Gonzalez followed with the fifth score of the game when Fontela reached first base.
Zarate grounded to shortstop, leaving herself and Fontela out which ended the inning.
A second 1-2-3 inning for Compton put the Falcons back on the plate.
After Najera and Cardenas opened the bottom of the third with two straight outs, Contreras and Amaya both walked.
Encarnacion hit to left field allowing Contreras before Gonzalez stepped up to the plate and grounded out, leaving the game with a score of 6-0.
Once again Compton failed to put a runner on base during their time in the fourth inning.
After opening with a strikeout the Falcons nearly loaded the bases once again but Mia Miramontes was called out at third.
With two runners remaining on base Cardenas hit a pop-up and ended the inning.
Compton opened the fifth inning by loading the bases before getting their first out and scoring their first run of the game.
Two more outs followed their run pausing their efforts to close the gap to the Falcons while the score sat at 6-1.
The Falcons secured their final run of the game during the bottom of the fifth when Gonzalez hit to center field while Contreras, who was standing on third base, scored during the play.
During the top of the sixth Compton placed a runner on second base before Serena Velez hit a double allowing Audrey Garcia to score the Tartars their final run of the game.
Cerritos did not score during the bottom of the sixth and with another 1-2-3 inning at the top of the seventh Compton could not close the gap leaving the final score 7-2.
The win was the first of two that the Falcons secured to end the regular season as they defeated the ELAC Huskies on April 22 and now wait for their opponent to be announced for the first round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
